The three customers—all HVAC/Hardgoods distributors—all transitioned from inaccurate forecasts through manual processes to leveraging a combination of Blue Ridge Advanced Demand Planning and Multi-Echelon Inventory Optimization (MEIO) applications.
Blue Ridge’s Supply Chain Planning (SCP) enabled the three distributors to understand and adapt quickly to their customers’ buying patterns, to accurately predict when, where and how much they’ll purchase, and plan inventory levels accordingly. Blue Ridge MEIO empowered the distributors to mitigate risk from seasonal buying patterns, precisely calculating the daily need for inventory based on both customer demand and the unique configurations of each company’s supply chain network, as well as mitigate inefficiencies in allocating goods between locations and channels.
Highlights for each of the three customers include:
- Over the last 12 months, held a 97-percent service level, a 48-percent reduction in lost sales, and a 47-percent overstock reduction, providing more than $5M in cash available from reduced inventory.
- Realized a 27-percent reduction in overstocks, a 10-percent increase in service level, and a 10-percent reduction in inventory overall, resulting in more than $8M in cash available.
- Reported a 27-percent inventory reduction, a 47-percent overstock reduction, and a 64 percent reduction in person-hours, providing more than $12M in cash available from reduced inventory.
